Old clothes as an opportunity

The garment industry causes significant environmental pollution from textile waste. Worldwide, millions of tonnes of textiles end up in landfills every year. In Ghana, a hub for used textiles in Africa, the amount of non-recyclable clothing is increasing, which is a burden on the environment.

The uncontrolled disposal of textile waste leads to environmental damage. Chemicals and dyes end up in bodies of water and endanger the environment and health. Disposed textiles pollute beaches, land and the air.

Ghana lacks infrastructure and awareness for textile recycling, leaving valuable resources unutilised. A textile recycling business could overcome economic challenges and create new opportunities, including jobs and local trade.

We want to explore innovative ways together to protect the environment, strengthen the local economy and create a sustainable future.

The vision

Our vision is to make a significant contribution to the protection of the environment by promoting textile recycling in Ghana. Our goal is to reduce the amount of textile waste, optimise the use of resources and provide sustainable products that are both socially responsible and of high quality. We strive to become a pioneer for circular economy and sustainability in the country’s textile industry.

Our solution

Ghana is one of the top importing countries for used textiles from the EU. A large proportion is unusable due to poor quality and must be disposed of. But how and where?

Our business strategy includes a holistic approach to sourcing, production and distribution. We aim to build long-term partnerships with collection partners, textile manufacturers and trading companies to ensure a continuous supply of textiles. In production, we rely on modern technologies and sustainable processes to manufacture high-quality recycled products.

Distribution takes place via various channels, including our own shops, online platforms and co-operations with local retailers and wholesalers, in order to reach a broad target group. Our business strategy aims to pursue both ecological and economic goals and ensure long-term success.
